Usually, we are at a loss for words to encourage others when we hear news of a friend or family member who has received a troubling diagnosis. I found myself in that situation recently and turned to my card-making to help me express my compassion to someone who received news of cancer.

The current Online Exclusives offered some great options that fit my need. The main visual attraction I used in today’s card was the Flowering Zinnias Designer Series Paper. (Oh my gosh!! What gorgeous colors!!!) The Comforting Thoughts Stamp Set offered just what I wanted to say, and the Thoughtful Expressions Dies (Retiring – no longer available) were perfect for creating the spot for the sentiment. I used the smallest “fancy rectangle” for stamping the sentiment, then the next larger to die cut a background for that layer.

Prepare the pieces and put it together

Basic White Card Stock: 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2; scrap for die cutting smaller sentiment layer. Stamp sentiment on die cut. Stamp inside sentiment in card base.

Melon Mambo Card Stock: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8; die cut background sentiment layer from center of this piece then emboss remaining layer using the Zinnia 3D Embossing folder. Attach the two sentiment layers together.

Designer Series Paper: 4 x 5/14 – attach to embossed Melon Mambo, then to the card base (either flat or with dimensionals.)

Attach sentiment layer to card using dimensionals.

Attach desired embellishments. Used Rhinestone Basic Jewels colored with the dark Melon Mambo alcohol marker.
