This will be the first of perhaps several blog entries about the Tea Boutique Suite. The stamps, dies and coordinating card bases and envelopes open up lots of options for creativity. First, we’ll look at a really quick card using a basic white card stock base.

My first card with this suite was for a friend I’ve not seen for a while, but with whom I had just finished a phone call. I wanted her to know that just talking was good, but that “meeting for tea” would be great!

Let’s get together soon!

We have an ongoing card sketch challenge going in the team (thank you Dawn Griffin!), so I used the sketch current at the time to design this card. I wrote a quick note inside and sent it right off!

Steps to make this 15 minute card

  • Using basic white card stock, I cut a card base of 5 ½ x 8 ½. Next, I scored the 8 ½ side at 4 ¼ and burnished the fold.

  • I chose a couple of prints from the 6×6 collection of papers in the Tea Boutique Suite. Choosing a Sweet Sorbet print, I cut it at 2 x 3 ½. The tea cup print was cut at  1 ¾ x 3. I cut a strip from Garden Green card stock measuring ½ x 5 ¼ then trimmed it into a banner. Each piece I adhered flat to the base at that point.

  • Sweet Sorbet Classic Ink was what I chose to stamp the teacup and Starry Sky for the teabag tag, both on scraps of white. I then cut each with the accompanying dies in the Tea Boutique Suite. I inadvertently picked up Night of Navy ink to stamp the greeting. (Note to self: clear the desk between projects!) I cut the greeting with the larger circle in the Tasteful Labels die set (now retired). A very similar effect can be achieved now using the Stylish Shapes dies, so that will be listed in the supplies list.

  • With a mini-stapler from my desk I stapled the tea bag tag to a piece of Linen Thread, and then used a glue dot to attach the other end to the back of the tea cup die cut. I like the angle of tag against the cup. Next, I attached the greeting die cut under the teacup. I attached this grouping to the base card with dimensionals.

What do you think of the Tea Boutique Suite?

Could you make a card from the Tea Boutique Suite in 15 minutes? That’s about what it took since these products are so well-coordinated! I think the future cards may go even faster, since we have coordinating cards and envelopes in the Suite as well!
