Sassy Stamping with Teresa logo

So, who in the world would choose to start a new business at retirement age when there’s no need for more income?  Someone who truly feels that it’s a “God call”.  After joining Stampin’Up! in January of 2021 just to get the discount, my thoughts began to take a new turn.  Though I didn’t know why at first, in the fall of 2021, I became convinced that I was supposed to start treating Stampin’Up! as a business instead of “just a hobby”.   As I worked toward a more business-minded approach I began to see what a huge need this could fill. Making cards together helps us form community. Even making cards together in an online class can fill that unmet need to connect with others. The resulting greeting cards we get to send out to stay in touch with family and friends in a special way also nurtures a sense of community.

As we dealt with lock-downs in this pandemic world, a sense of isolation has grown huge in many of our lives. Even when lock-downs are lifted, the disruptions they caused can continue to hamper our connections with others.  Crafting cards offers an activity that is both fun and helpful to build community.  I love being able to send out cards to folks I’ve not been able to see for a while, or who live too far away for regular visits.  Sending my friend texts or messages is nice, but there’s something much more personal about sending a card that was made especially for that friend.

Thinking of you card

If anyone had suggested to me a year ago that I’d build my own website and begin blogging about projects I’m making, I would not have believed them.  I’m already enjoying the benefit of connecting with new people and sharing what I love. I’ve met some amazing people through this, and I’ve enjoyed forming relationships with many of them.  While I’m still working on my “business mindset” I’m certainly  enjoying the process and the experience.  I invite you to join me in the adventure!
